[Working with Ms. Williams] I defined my career objective in the area of social impact, identified important steps in my job search, celebrated milestones and held myself accountable. I received two job offers and was recruited for 2 other positions. I accepted the role as Executive Director of NPower Maryland an organization committed to improving economic pathways for youth in the Baltimore region. Cheryl has been coaching on Mercy Corps faculty for a year and a half. She came highly recommended and hasn't disappointed. Her patience and masterful talent of communication unfolded many talents I somehow buried along the way. I am on my way to start a new position with a wonderful company with great pay and benefits. Each client has specific needs. After our initial conversation it was clear to me Cheryl did her own research in my field of expertise, which helped her put a laser on my program of needs specifically. There is no playbook for each client or company so be prepared to be treated uniquely according to you or your organization’s needs.

One of my main goals of this coaching relationship was to learn how to become a better coach myself. To that end, I believe that the most important results of our conversation were 1) seeing an incredible example of coaching at its finest (what it looks and sounds like to be a good coach) and 2) reconfirmation of my intention to at some point dedicate more of my professional time to coaching myself. More immediate results related to my current work include having been able to manage at least three different human resource issues in my office with a “coaching mindset” that I learned from Ms. Williams. All three situations have had positive outcomes as a result.

Cheryl has a special kind of magic. She has an uncanny ability to bring people together especially when there are differences. She helped our team find solutions we wouldn't have come to independently.
